I submitted this to win a Poring Piggy Bank. Shame I didn`t win….. its pretty dope chillin.
The land of Rune-Midgard is a place where adventurers, both male and
female, venture into the darkest caverns looking for the most rare of
artifacts, weapons, and trading cards. These people walk about towns
and cities, looking for particular items to become even stronger, much
like any main character from an anime would do. There are several
places in this land, however, that provide a magical connection
between two people. Some examples are the southern area of Prontera,
The Al De Baran Bridge, and just outside the Orc Dungeon in Geffen. It
is believed that these special areas kindle the initial attraction
between two people, much like how Cupid would shoot his arrow at a
destined couple, and in those places they may find that most rare of
treasures, that one thing worth more than any artifact in the world –
love. These lands spin legends of eternal happiness and deepest
depression alike, of which this tale is one. This is the story of a
rogue named Uruwashii, a priestess, St. May, and a doomed romance;
their love, their break, and their fall.
This story began in front of the Orc Dungeon. Finally graduating from
the rogue test, Uruwashii began crafting himself a reputation of
mischief. As he was walking around making fun of everyone he came
across, he overheard a male swordsman asking a priestess to heal him.
“heal plz,” the swordsman mumbled awkwardly.
The priestess looked at him, laughed, and started complaining to a
fellow Assassin about how that phrase irritates her. Uruwashii,
quickly remembering his roots, asked, “Don’t you remember how you were
as a newbie?”
She raises an eyebrow, affronted and perhaps even somewhat amused that
a lowly rogue should cut into her conversation, and from there the two
began to argue about the proper way to ask an acolyte-based job for
healing. Every day the two would end up back in front of the Orc
dungeon, continuing where they left off, both of them strong-willed
and refusing to back down on their opinions. Once they decided they
would never agree upon it, they explored other subjects such as
headgear, their history, their aspirations, and their usual hangouts.
Eventually, Uruwashii invited her to become part of his guild, The
Cutest Guild.
(Since I’m doing this in third person, I figured I should add a bit of
information as to how the relationship felt like in real life. We were
just friends, however, we would role-play like we were together. We
understood that Ragnarok Online is just a game and nothing serious
could really come from it. It can be compared to any console RPG where
the hero falls for the girl.)
Throughout their friendship and their time together in the guild,
Uruwashii found himself struggling to discern what his true feelings
were for the lovely St. May. After talking about it with his two best
friends, Lapis Lazuli and Yusu, who were already planning on marriage,
he finally decided that he should ask St. May the question she had no
idea was coming. With his heart threatening to pound its way out of
his chest, the rogue took the priestess back to the Orc Village – the
place where the magic began. Uruwashii took her hand gently and led
her to the rooftop of a fallen Orc house, and with shaking knees he
begins to speak.
“Will you… marry me?”
St. May is shocked into silence for a few moments, the look on her
face one of utter surprise. “Uru…” she began. “I’ve thought about it…
and my answer is…”
If it were at all possible, Uruwashii would have sworn his heart was
beating ever faster by the second. Her hesitation was unnerving, and
as she opened her mouth to give her reply he was sure she was going to
say no…
And at last she answers, to his complete astonishment. “Yes.”
The next few months were nothing short of blissful for Uruwashii and
St. May. They spent every moment side-by-side, battling together,
learning together, and even going flat broke together due to the
rogue’s fascination with Old Blue Boxes. Eventually his addiction
began to enter into St. May’s earnings, and within some time the
couple had hit-rock bottom. However, this did nothing to stop their
unending optimism, and Uruwashii and St. May were soon back on their
feet once again.
Despite the fact that they were from two completely different walks of
life, the rogue and the priestess had plenty to learn from one
another. Uruwashii encouraged St. May to be more rugged and
tougher-skinned when coming face-to-face with the more slimy villains
they would meet in their travels. St. May, for her part, taught
Uruwashii the basics of refinement and etiquette in order to fit in
with Rune-Midgard’s sophisticated upper class. The two were
inseparable and had a relationship that baffled most, and while their
closest friends were cheering them on, almost everyone else was
pondering the same question: “Why would a priestess marry a rogue?”
But nothing lasts forever, as the old adage goes, and it seemed that
their happiness was no exception. Uruwashii and St. May started to
spend less time together, and in turn, spoke to each other less often.
On top of that, Uruwashii, who often pondered what life meant beyond
his job, his wife, making fun of every person he passed on the road,
and the daily grind of monster-bashing and making a living, decided
that he must leave the world of Rune-Midgard for three months due to
spiritual preparation and training in the outside world. (This would
be due to dance practices, and upcoming competitions around Canada).
Within these three months, St. May had a chance to experience her
world without her husband, and meet different people. She eventually
left The Cutest Guild and joined a new guild called Well-Baked
Cookies. As time passed, St. May felt an undeniable attraction to
another man, a hunter of a higher class, and little by little her love
for the dashing rogue slipped away. All this happened as Uruwashii
quietly meditated in the dark, unaware that he was slowly losing his
wife.
Back in action at the end of his spiritual journey, Uruwashii woke
from his sleep eager to meet with his wife. When he finally gets to
see her, however, she acts like a totally different person and even
ignores him at times, rousing Uruwashii’s suspicions. He eventually
confronted her about it and as they discussed the matter, Uru realized
that St. May had moved on without him. She made the decision official
while Uruwashii was exploring within the clock tower, telling him that
she was on her way to Niffleheim to divorce him as she spoke. At that
moment he knew exactly what was going to happen. Uruwashii swiftly
headed to Al De Baran to meet with St. May one last time as husband
and wife, knowing the marriage was over when he saw the broken wedding
rings in her hand.
This love story ends on a tragic note, but things were – and still are
– far from over for Uru and St. May. Despite the end of their
marriage, the two still keep in contact. Their eternal optimism and
willfulness, qualities that had first attracted the priestess and the
rogue to one another, holds their friendship together to this day.
This looks familiar. x)
I remember reading this. I can’t think where though xD
He probably sent it to you to read.
