Miyajima & Hiroshima

Alright. I really don’t wan to blog.

Miyajima was amazing. Definitely a must-visit, as well as Hiroshima. Both locations were cultural hotspots.

So at Miyajima, we visited the famous temple, and saw some deer. One of them had pwnage antlers. Everyone was touching and petting the deer but we felt we didn’t have to. Soon after, we noticed a sign in the middle of some random street telling us not to touch the deer. Pretty stupid location imo.

Hiroshima was much more entertaining. We checked out the peace museum and peace memorial hall. The entire park had many things to check out, like the atomic bomb dome. After exploring a bit more, we decided after finding out that the Mazda Museum was closed, and the cruise to Miyajima was reservation only, to go shop in Hiroshima. Found another Uni Qlo and bought more junk….

Apparently I hold conversations quite well in Japan. 3 instances where people would speak Japanese to me, I’d respond with a, “hai” and they would continue talking. I was constantly offered Japanese only pamphlets followed by more Japanese and laughter. Yeah……

I think I’m adopted. I must be Japanese or something.

Oh and AJ/Damian, as I type this I am surrounded by about 20+ Japanese school girls IN uniform.

Did’nt I tell you that you are Japanese, born from the love affair between JTB and Niagara Guide Service?
The first words you spoke were: ichi, ni, san, si, go…and you had chirazi sushi rice instead of baby food..and your baby clothes consisted of yukatas and cloth diapers. No, really..you were a Japanese baby..

ok, i think I had seen enough of uniQlo and shopping malls..how about a video of the sites? toobad you did not make the ferry to Miyajima..so..off to Osaka now. Do you want me to get Nori’s number in Kyoto? I always chat with him on FB. Oh, did u get my something – cool.. at Uniqlo??

HAHAHA omg the ending of that first video was jokes with the store clerk telling u guys u cant take pics! Man u guys went to Akihibara eh…..did u see all the otaku spots there? apparently according to a drama i watched thas where all the maid cafes and shit are….

What does uruwashii mean?

1. An early Japanese term for warrior, "uruwashii", was written with a kanji (picturegramm) that combined the characters for literary study ("bun") and military arts ("bu"), and from as early as the late 12th century the educated poet-swordsman is held up as the ideal of human endeavour. This class would call themselves "bujutsu-do"; those that follow the way of bujutsu. Reference

2. This question goes back to the Confucian ideal of balance that Japanese inherited, probably from the 7th century or so. The word used by both to express this concept, for the "gentleman" by the Chinese and the warrior by Japanese, is (hin), pronounced uruwashii in Japanese, meaning both "balanced" and "beautiful. Why use uruwashii?

Whether you accept it or you don't, beauty is one of the most important details in your everyday living. If your report for that asshole boss doesn't meet company standards because of it's poor format, you get fired. Your teeth are slimy and your beard is coarse, meaning you won't get any from your girl tonight. Balance is vital to healthy living in regards to almost every aspect in your life. Too much of anything will eventually kill you, and therefore balance is key. Uruwashii combines both beauty and balance for form a term we all strive for. Success.
